about

I tried something new.

A very personal song to me, about various times in my life, recent and long ago, and my experiences in some of these times with someone very important to me.

Summer is my favourite season, and I hate when it rains in the summer. I guess it means something like: Even when things are going good it can get really shitty quick, like when it rains in the summer.

lyrics

Girl, I gotta be real
I'm comin' down
Do we need a next one?
You got a couple of
Friends in your phone
Won't you go ahead and text one?
I don't care how long it takes
'Cause I'll be here when your heart breaks
And I'll watch as the colours on the leaves
All fade away

Quiet days
Screaming nights
I havent slept in months
I think of the old days
No new days in front
No east end
Or these quiet roads
Just city streets
Where we fight
My talent lays
In the alley ways
And drinks every night
Tell me now I'm trippin' out
Where's my mind girl?
Oh, you got it for me there.
On my way, 85
In my ride now
I'm just happy that you care
When thinking 'bout my life
I only see you by my side
Through the smiles and the pain
And the tears and the summer rain

Girl, I gotta be real
I'm comin' down
Do we need a next one?
You got a couple of
Friends in your phone
Won't you go ahead and text one?
I don't care how long it takes
'Cause I'll be here when your heart breaks
And I'll watch as the colours on the leaves
All fade away

Sometimes I hate that I remember
That September summer rain
But it doesn't matter, rather
It's amazing how we've changed
Our story started young
We had to pause it for a bit
Baby how you saved me
You don't know the half of it
I'm not bottoming out
I'm not breaking down
I'm swimming in my sorrows
But you make sure I don't drown
You're my inspiration,
Motivation, favourite one
I'm looking forward to my
Future with you in the summer sun
Now I'm walking through my city streets
In the summer rain
Thinking 'bout when we were young
And we were at that lake
We had to run for cover to hide from
All that lightning and thunder
It's funny how our story started
In the summer rain

Girl, I gotta be real
I'm comin' down
Do we need a next one?
You got a couple of
Friends in your phone
Won't you go ahead and text one?
I don't care how long it takes
'Cause I'll be here when your heart breaks
And I'll watch as the colours on the leaves
All fade away
